Photography Practice : Goose and Minute Maid

Today after my gym exercises I went to a park to practice some photography. Below are two photos that I took:

  1. Minute maid reflection over a puddle of water after 2 days of rain
I bought this minute maid at a supermarket for $1.59. Drinks on a budget yeah!

2. Goose getting ready to go for a swim

This is a goose. I took it with sonya6000 using the kit lens zoomed at 50mm.

Photography : A barrel at the sake brewery

It was my friend’s birthday so we went to a sake brewery. At the Brewery/bar they had a few barrels out in place that they used for decorative purposes (Photo below). The brewery or bar location had one bartender and only two tables and a couple chairs. Although the brewery was very small and “basement” like, they served really good sake. Business is blooming!

The Barrel has Jack Daniel’s written on it.

Macro Photography of Dinosaurs

I bought some little Dinosaurs from the store and I decided to use them to practice my photography skills. I think it’s easier to take pictures of action figures and animals then of people in the streets. People in the streets will often nag at you…

I used the normal kit lens and zoomed in at 20-30mm. It gets too blurry when I get too close though.

What would the world be like if dinosaurs still existed today? Feel free to comment below!

My First anime review : Erased (Boku dake ga inai machi)

Quick Anime Review: Erased

I recently finished watching an anime called Erased and I would like to write a quick review on it. It took me two weeks to finish the entire 12 episodes but I finally finished it! I watched the first 3 episodes two weeks ago and then I rushed through the rest of the series last Sunday. I will try not to review any spoilers in this review.

Overall Theme:

I believe the overall theme of this anime is to learn from one’s mistake and to take actions from it. In this anime, the main character faces several challenges but he gets a second chance to change and make decisions to help out his friends that are in need.

This anime contains scenes of violence, and sadness. But aside from those horrible emotions there is also friendship and romance in this anime.

The Story/Plot:

I am not sure how to summarize the story without reviewing spoilers so I will try to keep it short and straight to the point! The main character’s name is Satoru Fujinuma. He has an unusual ability called Revival where he gets a second chance to travel back in time to change something that has disturbed his life. By using this ability the main character is able to journey back in time and walk through a case of an unknown kidnapper/murder that happened several years ago. He is able to reconnect with his friends at the cost of ____. I’ll let you figure it out when you see it!

I spent six hours watching the entire 12 episodes so I will give this anime a good grade of course. I will give it a 4 out 5 stars.  The cinematography is very good and the scenes seem pretty awesome! It takes place in a snowy town where everyone seems to know each other. The shots and scene transitions seem well made and well planned out. The characters were well made and I was not able to identify any flaws in this anime yet.

What now?

I looked up more information about this anime and I found out that they also have a live action film. I would like to take a look at it when I have time.

Here is the trailer for the anime and the live action movie from youtube:

Wednesday Exercise/Food Log

Exercise Log:

Due to the unusual weather and random amount of rain pouring outside, I will not be going to the gym today. I will however, take a 2 hour nap and then catch up on some readings so I can improve my photography/Journalism skills. I plan on leveling up this skill so I can make extra money in the future with my soon to be developed talent:).

Below are the two books that I am currently reading to exercise my brain:

1. Interviewing a guide for journalists and writers by Gail Sedorkin

2. Travel and Street Photography: From Snapshots to Great Shots by John Batdorff

Reading is not enough, I will have to put in some time and effort to put the knowledge I learned into practice in order to develop these skills. Updates coming soon!

My unhealthy food log today:

Breakfast and morning snacks:

  • A granola bar -_-.
  • Hibiscus tea
  • Ants (some ants crawled inside my lunch bag and I ate them for protein! jk).

  • A granola bar
  • Water
  • Half a Protein shake
  • Rice with Chicken
  • More ants

  • Cookies with milk
  • A piece of sugarcane
  • Chicken Nuggets
  • Ice cream bar

Photography and random story:

And now I leave you with pictures of this dragon fruit budding flower that I took a few months ago!

Once upon a time there was a dragon fruit cactus lying in the middle of nowhere. What a lonely cactus this was. But a kangaroo came out of nowhere and found this cactus. He then took it home to his garden and planted it in the dirt. He watered it everyday until it grew several branches and  budded out flowers. What a marvelous sight this was.

  4. Lat Pulldown machine (It’s a strange machine, I can’t find it online anywhere but it works out your back muscle)
    1. 50 lbs 12 reps
    2. 80lbs 12 reps
    3. 100 lbs 12 reps
    4. 120 lbs 8 reps
    5. 100 lbs 12 reps x2

That’s all I did today. After that I got lazy and went window shopping…

Total Exercise time : About 50-60 minutes. (I try not to stay longer then 60 minutes just because it gets really painful staying too long).

Breakfast and morning snacks:

  • Porridge with chicken and vegetables
  • A banana
  • An orange
  • A chewy granola bar – chocolate chip
  • Jasmine tea

Lunch and afternoon snacks:

  • Rice with chicken
  • Popcorn
  • Water
  • Another chewy Granola bar.

Dinner and late night snacks:

  • Milk and cookies
  • A chocolate cake
  • Rice with chicken
  • An ice cream bar

As you can see I have a really unhealthy diet right now. But it doesn’t matter because I am already underweight (About less then 110 lbs), so I am trying to eat whatever junk food I can find in the refrigerator. I haven’t gained any weight from the last month, I actually lost some weight and then went back to my normal weight again for some reason. This is really hard….

Here’s a tip for gaining weight : Don’t ever exercise on a hungry stomach and don’t do cardio for too long b/c you will lose weight and muscle!

Below is a picture of a bear that I took from my trip to the zoo (I have an annual pass to the zoo and safari park, more pictures coming soon!).

Humans do not weigh the same as bears but we could if we use our imagination.

Monday Gym Exercise/nutrition Log:

I thought I write down what kind of exercises I did today at the gym just to keep track of my progress. I know there is a social network called body space to keep track of exercises but I figured it’s easier to write it on my own blog instead.

  1. Widegrip late pull down – To learn about this exercises check out the bodybuilding guide.
    • For this exercise I started at 60 lbs and did 15 reps.
    • Then 80lbs and did 8reps
    • Then I went to 90 and had trouble maintaining my form with two reps
    • 70lbs 12reps
    • 80 lbs and 5 reps
    • Then I dropped it back to 70 and did 8 reps 3 times. I took a 30 second break in between.
  2. Chin up
    • 12 reps x3
  3. Dips
    • 15 reps x3
  4. Dumbell bench Press (click to see the bodybuilding website for information on how to do this website)
    • 30 lbs 15 reps
    • 37.5 lbs 12 reps
    • 40 lbs 6 reps
    • 35 lbs 12 reps
  5. Tricep Pushdown (Click for tutorial from bodybuilding)
    • 50 lbs and did 12 reps
    • 40 lbs and 12 reps
    • 30 lbs and 15 reps

That’s pretty much all I did today. It took about 40-50 minutes to complete the entire exercise. I’m not following any exercise program, I am just doing all random exercises throughout the day. Tommorow I will do different exercises or continue the ones from today and hope I can increase the weight.

The goal is to build muscle by exercising to failure until the muscle is exhausted. I’m having a hard time increasing my weights so I’m doing lighter weights with more reps and more intensity to compensate for this. I’m not here to have fun, I’m here to endure pain and get it over with.

Here’s what I ate today, it’s probably not the proper body building nutrition but if I keep track of this I’ll be able to adjust it soon.

Breakfast and morning snacks:

  • Rice with fish and vegetables
  • Banana
  • Mandarin

  • Rice with two fried eggs
  • Water
  • Tea
  • Protein Shake (1 scoop)
  • Pretzels

Dinner and Late night Snacks:

  • Chicken drumsticks
  • Rice
  • Water
  • Cantaloupe
  • Porridge
  • Cabbage

How much calories did I had? I didn’t kept track of that. But I know it’s not enough to gain weight and muscle. It’s really hard to eat a lot of food when your so used to eating so little.

Frozen – Olaf Snowman Playdoh set

I wanted to make a clay-motion video so I bought some playdoh to create some characters.

This is the snowman i made from the play-doh kit. The body was made from white playdoh. The heat and arms are plastic and came with the kit.

I want to make him talk but the mouth is plastic so I can’t seem to animate that in my stop motion video. What to do next? Tune in next time!
